If you plan on watching the Chicago Bears play the New York Giants tonight on NBC, watch the game, at least for a tryout, at NBCSports.com.
NBC is simulcasting their NFL broadcasts on the site. That’s not what’s unique about the deal: From the site you can not only watch the game live but you can choose among different camera angles.
That’s cool…and that’s the future of sports broadcasts. It’s not quite ready for primetime–the video is massively overcompressed–but you can see where it’s going.
ON DEMAND
The NFL Network on Comcast OnDemand is now showing the Vikings 2008 regular-season victory over the New York Giants.
Also playing on NFL Network’s OnDemand Netshows is a feature on Super Bowls VIII – XIII, which includes three games in which the Vikings played (lost): Super Bowl VIII, against the Dolphins; Super Bowl IX, against the Steelers; and Super Bowl XI, against the Raiders.
Finally, you can also watch 10 replays of each of the Vikings three games thus far this season, if you must have some Vikings action this week.
SELF-SERVE VIKINGS
Next time you’re at the Mall of America, keep your eye out for a Vikings vending machine.
The Vikings are teaming up with MainGate to sell Vikings merchandise through vending machines. Cliff Brunt of the AP reports:
“The machine includes shirts, footballs, trading cards, customized rubber bands, bobbleheads and more. Prices range from $5 for the rubber bands to $25 for a shirt or hat. No player jerseys, though—too big and expensive for a vending machine.”
