SO LONG, ‘TOINE?
Vikings Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield seemed to indicate to Paul Allen that this would be his last season as a pro football player.
That’d suck.
C’mon, Antione; at least come back and play safety.
ALL EYES
Will be on rookie cornerback Chris Cook, who will start at right corner tomorrow. He’s had nothing but rave reviews during the preseason and has shown he’s got a knack for making plays and being around the ball, so it will be good to get an extended look at him against Seattle’s starters.
On the opposite side of the ball, Vikings fans will be holding their collective breath as they wait to see how Javon Walker and Greg Camarillo look in Purple.
THE VOICE OF GOD
Dana Wessel, the Vikings beat reporter for CBS Sportsline, tweeted that new Vikings receiver Greg Camarillo referred to himself in the third person.
JUSTIN HARTWIG?
Justin who? He’s the nine year Steelers veteran center who looks like he’s about to lose his starting position to a first-round rookie. Chilli, call Mike Tomlin.
THE DEETS
The Vikings play at 7 p.m. CST on Saturday on NBC/KARE 11. The game can be heard on terrestrial radio at 1130AM (KFAN) and on satellite on Sirius 90 (SEA), 121 (MN).
HERDS OF MARCHING BANDS
When Google needs to cut the grass, they bring in a herd of goats to chew it down to size. When the Vikings install new Sportexe turf on Mall of America Field at the Metrodome, they bring in herds of marching bands to pack it down, according to the Strib‘s Judd Zulgad.
KARE 11’s Scott Seroka has video of the turf story. [Watch].
The cool thing about this type of turf is that it provides a fast surface that also gives, so it’s not like playing on concrete. The turf is made up of plastic formed as individual blades of grass sprinkled with granules of rubber pellets that simulate a real grass field.
When you run on it, you can feel it give and you can actually feel the “dirt” kick up beneath your feet.
The only problem is when you take your cleats home, the little rubber “dirt” pellets get into everything.
DID NOTHING THERE
Paul Allen on Javon Walker on KFAN yesterday: “Went to Denver, did nothing there.”
Um, sure. If by Did Nothing There, you mean more than 1,000 yards on 69 receptions and 8 touchdowns (and another TD on a 72 yard rushing play) in the year after he blew out his ACL.
This is the Voice of Your Minnesota Vikings.
NO MADDEN FOR YOU
Vikings Cullen Loeffler will not be appearing in Madden 11. In fact, he’s never appeared in Madden. And he probably never will because he’s a long-snapper and there’s only one long-snapper in Madden.
Besides, the long-snapper isn’t even a real position. Seriously, why can’t the real center handle the duties? Why do we really need to take up a roster spot on a fake position? It’s annoying.
Besides, as Brett Favre so eloquently put it: “Who the f*** is Cullen Loeffler?”
Game Informer has reactions from other Vikings players, as well.
TRENDING
Greg Camarillo (2nd) and Benny Sapp (5th) were among the most popular searches at Google on the day of the trade.
BIRTHDAYS
