The 2-1 Vikings matched up against the 1-2 Philadelphia Eagles in this week four game on September 25, 1988 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The Vikings won the game, 23-21, and went on to post an 11-5 regular season record, ultimately losing to the San Fransico 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round playoffs.
The Vikings offense was lead by Quarterback Tommy Kramer and featured Hall of Fame lineman Gary Zimmerman and Randall McDaniel. Kramer’s receviers included Anthony Carter, Hassan Jones and tight end Steve Jordan.
The Vikings defense featured the outstanding front four of Doug Martin, Hank Thomas, Keith Millard and Hall of Famer Chris Doleman. Scott Studwell manned the middle linebacker position and cornerback Carl Lee and safety Joey Browner rounded out the secondary.
The Eagles featured future Vikings quarterback Randall Cunningham and Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter.
