Poor Jim Marshall. It’s a shame his name will always be tied to this play It’s even more of a shame, though, that he has yet to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, given his amazing career and an Iron Man streak that was broken (legitimately) by Brett Favre. On October 25th, 1964, a younger Marshall as a member of the famed Purple People Eaters, recovered a fumble and returned it to the wrong end zone, giving the San Francisco 49ers a safety.
