The Vikings announced on Twitter that Matt Cassel will start in place of Christian Ponder on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Vikings say they made the move because Ponder suffered a fractured rib that, because it was too close to his heart, may have caused him further damage were the rib to separate.
