The Vikings are considering signing another player from the Canadian Football League, according to Adam Caplan. This time it’s Phillip Hunt, the league’s top pass rusher the Vikes have their eye on.
The 6’2″, 260 lbs. defensive end worked out for the Vikings in mid-December. He also worked out for the Cleveland Browns (who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2009 but released him during the preseason), the Houston Texans, The New England Patriots, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hunt’s Pro Day results: 40 yard dash – 4.75; 20 yard dash – 2.71; 10 yard dash – 1.60; 225 lbs. Bench Reps – 14; Vertical Jump – 41 1/2″; Broad Jump – 9’8″; 20 yard shuttle – 4.22; 3-cone drill – 6.91.
Hunt played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Bud Grant‘s old team) the past two seasons and was the CFL’s top pass rusher this past season with 16 sacks. Phillip Hunt played college ball at the University of Houston as an outside linebacker. Hunt wore number 53 in college and for the Blue Bombers.
