Twin Cities, Minnesota Blog
NOTE: This is an archive of a blog that was originally published at TwinCitiesMinnesotaBlog.com.
On August 10, 2004, I started this blog using Blogger so I could learn about and experiment with the medium.
I've accomplished that goal but I continue to experiment, which might explain the sometimes random nature of this blog. While I publish other blogs on Internet Marketing and the Minnesota Vikings, this one is far less focused and sometimes scatter shot.
I do talk a lot about sports because sports are always fun to talk about. I talk about various places in the Twin Cities because the Twin Cities are a wonderful place to live. I talk about video games because they're very cool, as entertainment as well as technology. I talk about politics because I'm a news and politics junkie.
And I'll pretty much talk about whatever makes it into my head, through my fingers, and past the post button.
I write because it helps me to think; the process helps me clarify my ideas by putting those ideas into words that I can see and examine. I write because I love writing and I'm good at it and there's nothing quite as wonderful as exercising a skill at which you excel.
Flunk Day
Today is Flunk Day. Otherwise known as Senior Skip Day. This is the day that we irresponsible people leave work early and enjoy the first nice day of Spring. And you know what the opposite of responsibility is, don’t you? It’s called Fun. And that’s what we have: Fun. Flunk Day has it’s origins for…
Great Men
If Clare Boothe Luce‘s observation that "great man is one sentence" is true, it follows that you could do worse than having William Faulkner write your biography.
Minnesota Twins Baseball
I played catch with The Veteran yesterday in preperation of playing my first season of softball this summer, so I’m all psyched about MLB opening day. Hope springs eternal every March and April as baseball fans assess their team’s chances for winning their division and advancing in October and this year is no different for…
Is The Mall Of America Heated?
I noticed today while doing keyword research that during the past 60 days, 5 people have used the search engines to answer the question "is the Mall of America heated"? I immediately assumed, of course, that that was a silly question. Located in Bloomington, Minnesota, how could the Mall of America not be heated. But…
Madden 2006
These are some things I hope Electronic Arts includes in the next iteration of Madden football. FIRST PERSON MODE: I would love for Madden to have a first-person mode like ESPN Football has. It is the single biggest difference between the two games and if that’s a feature that matters to me as a prospective…
Justice For Sale
The Los Angelese Times published a story today proving that, contrary to popular belief, justice is not just not blind, but that it’s got 20/20 vision when checking out the balance on it’s own personal checkbook. Today Justice is officially for sale–and at the nation’s highest court, no less. We discover this because under a…
Snuffing Out W.M.D.
Sometimes you have games where you just catch fire, and when that happens, the breaks seem to fall your way, too.
Blogging The Electorate Fantastic
I’ll be blogging all day over at my other site, Minnesota politics, for election day.
Blogging By Email
The message below I sent on Sunday, October 31. It just appeared at Blogger. So, if you blog using the email-your-blog function, don’t expect it to happen overnight. Now I’m set. I’ve set up my blog so that I can publish via email. I’m edging closer and closer to “Being Digital,” with my new Sidekick…
Kerry Winning!
With the Packers leading the Washington Redskins 20-7 in the third quarter, it looks like Senator John Kerry will defeat the incompetent George Bush. Thank gawd.
